She flipped through a file, glancing over the patient's bio quickly. Great, another case of the sniffles. That would be the third case of a person with the flu in the past two hours. Why couldn't some interesting case come in? She'd have more fun with a person having a heart attack for pete's sake. She gave a low sigh, her eyes drifting to a intern that had walked up beside. "Would you mind doing this?" she asked curiously, waiting to see if the intern would take the case or not. Well, this woman was one of her interns, and anything she said went. The girl nodded, opening up the folder to read it over. Finally Zarah could do something besides see patients that had snot running out of their noses. She straightened out her white coat, walking around the counter towards her office. Sure, she was a doctor, but she wanted more schooling before she would even consider herself as one. You could say she was just weird like that.
She walked down one of the long corridors, one that wasn't as crowded as others, making her way to her office. She pushed open the door to find that there was someone sitting at her desk and going through her things. "What are you doing?" she asked sharply, eyes glazed over with annoyance. She had many little pet peeves, and people getting into her things was definitely one of them. The man looked up, giving her a toothy grin. "I was waiting for you to come back, and I well... got bored." he said. Okay, well that didn't clear up much of anything. She folded her arms across her chest, making herself look like she demanded a finely detailed explanation to who he was and why he was here. As if taking the cue, he started rambling off. His name was Derek and she had supposedly started flirting with him at Cherry Ice. Great, had she been that drunk? She didn't even remember the guy. She gave a false apology that sounded sincere, telling him that he must have the wrong person. She watched as he loped out of her office with a disappointed look on his face. When he was out of sight, she stuck her tongue out at him, muttering angrily under her breath. "Loser."
She sauntered over towards her desk, scanning over the mess that the guy had made. "Sheesh, rude and messy, but still cute." she stated aloud to herself, giggling a little at her own comment of him being cute. It was true, she wasn't a prick that had no life or social skills. She liked to go to the mall and gawk at cute guys like most other girls on Earth did. She began to reorganize the the things on her desk that the guy had moved around. Once it was all neat and tidy, she leaned back in her chair, turning to her computer. She checked her e-mail, only to find that it was all spam. She must be unpopular. There wasn't even one e-mail from a college buddy. Wow. She then logged onto MSN to see if there was anyone on. She looked down the list of people that were actually on, but most had an away message and the others weren't worth talking to even. "Come on chica, there must be something in this hospital you can do that doesn't involve patients with the flu." she said to herself. She took a pad of paper from a drawer in her desk and grabbing a pen. She jotted down the tasks she needed to do when she got home. 1. Feed the cat, 2. Do the dishes, 3. Sweep the floor, 4. Cook dinner for Josh and Hannah seeing as they'll most likely be over, 5. Pamper self when they leave. Maybe she could sneak in some time to go to the bar or something. Her life was such a drag, she basically did the same thing every single day. It seemed her life was nothing more than a cd being played over and over again. Wake up, take a shower, get dressed, go to work, come home, feed the cat, clean, cook for Josh and Hannah, then entertain them, another shower, sleep. Well, that basically covered everything that went on in her daily life.
Her head went up, eyes darting to a person as they walked past her office, tapping on the window. Idiot. Maybe the kid just didn't realize that there was actually someone in the room. Probably not. The nerve of some people. Did they not know that they shouldn't just go tapping on things in a hospital. People needed to get some decency before she went completely crazy. More than likely, it was just her boring life that had made her more irritable lately. Some could call her a cranky old lady at this rate. However, if they did, she would have to chop someone head off with a spork. That's right, a spork, one that came straight from the cafeteria. How scary and liberating. Ha, she was oh-so-scary when it came to threats. Okay, maybe not. She was really good with comebacks though when she was actually speaking out loud. In High School, she had been forced to join the Debating team and won most arguments. She easily passed that class, naturally as her parents told her. After that, she had been called their "Little Girl That Won Arguments". Boy was that really catchy, huh? Her parents and their quite weird sense of humor. How could she even put up with them? Well, for one, they were her parents, two, they acted better than her irresponsible brother and didn't mooch money off of her all the time. Josh. He was such and idiot. He pretty much lived with his sister along with his 4 year old daughter. Little Hannah's mother had just walked out one day and left the two, leaving Josh to care for Hannah. That was a stupid mistake. It would have been safer to leave the girl with a human eating lion that with Josh. He couldn't even support himself, could barely keep a job for nothing more than 2 weeks. He was such a mess, and Zarah had lost count on how many times she had been back stabbed by her own brother. Yet she still pitied him enough to let him stay in her apartment after his heat and water had been turned off. In reality, she only did it for her niece. It was either do that, or watch the little girl suffer from her dad's mistakes.
